Take Part TV and Playing For Change

Last fall, I filmed a couple of songs for Take Part TV's new series Eye Level.  The folks at Take Part then generously made a contribution to my favorite charity, Play For Change Foundation, which helps to build arts and music schools in countries where they are too poverty stricken to build them on their own...these schools give all kinds of kids throughout the world the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn more about their own artistic endeavors.  Here are two of the videos we filmed with more to come on April 17th.  Please visit for information on how you can help. The Little Filth That Could...

The reviews for The Thinking Man's Filth continue to pour in and they've been really great. The Aquarian says, "Consisting of six gritty little diamonds, this homemade dish is one best served over and over again...Aurally tight, the use of dynamics to the most extreme manner is both maddening and appreciated."  Read the full review by clicking here.

Dingus on music (best blog name ever) says, "The force of nature recorded here is comparable to Jeff Tweedy, Ryan Adams and other alt-folk legends but with this solo endeavor Tasjan proves he doesn’t need a Wilco or any Cardinals. The chunky, distorted, stringy guitar throughout the album mixed with ageless, soul-wrenched vocals leaves almost no room for a rock band."  Read the full review by clicking here.

I'd also like to note that, due to circumstances beyond my control, I won't be doing most of the dates in April with Sylvain Sylvain.  However, I'll still be appearing with him on April 1st at The City Winery and we will begin recording an album with Tommy Price and Kenny Aaronson on tomorrow night.  Hope to see you on tour down South with Jonny Burke this May.  Rock on, rock on. New Madison Square solo record...

ALT-StepsPhoto by Rick Edwards. All Rights Reserved. The Madison Square Gardeners made noise together for the first time in a year and a half last week.  We were working in Bushwick's brand new Room 17 Studios with Adam Lasus producing and Joe Rogers assisting.  If you're a fan of the Madison Square Gardeners, you're going to love this's right up your alley.

I also started work the next day on a new solo recording.  It's a full length..picking up where "Filth" left off and taking it even further and crazier...very excited about it.

A couple new shows have been posted...SXSW gigs are continuing to roll in, so keep an eye out!  In the mean time, may your time be not so mean. Hope to see you all in Texas in March.

Love, ALT
